Here’s What “The Conjuring 3” Cast Looks Like Vs. The Real-Life People

Based on the real-life trial of Arne Cheyenne Johnson.

In case you didn’t know already, the films in The Conjuring universe are based on the controversial investigations of paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (aka The Conjuring 3) is the latest addition to the series and, following suit, is based on the real-life trial of Arne Cheyenne Johnson.

Johnson was convicted of killing his landlord, Alan Bono, in 1981. At the time, he claimed that he’d been possessed by demons that had inhabited his body after leaving his girlfriend’s brother’s body during an exorcism. According to the Associated Press, “He said he killed Bono while under the devil’s spell.”

For curiosity’s sake, here’s a look at what the cast of The Conjuring 3 looks like side by side with the real people:

Patrick Wilson vs. Ed Warren

Patrick Wilson has been playing the role of Ed Warren since the very first Conjuring film way back in 2013.

Ed Warren, along with his wife, was a paranormal investigator based out of Connecticut. He died in 2006.

Vera Farmiga vs. Lorraine Warren

Vera Farmiga has been playing the role of Lorraine Warren since 2013’s The Conjuring alongside costar Patrick Wilson.

Lorraine Warren was a paranormal investigator based out of Connecticut. She died in 2019. Farmiga penned a heartfelt tribute to Lorraine when she died and called her a “dear friend.”

Ruairi O’Connor vs. Arne Cheyenne Johnson

Ruairi O’Connor is an Irish actor who is best known for his role as Henry Tudor in the TV series The Spanish Princess.

Arne Cheyenne Johnson was just 19 when he was charged with murdering his landlord, Alan Bono, in 1981. He was released early from prison after almost five years for “good behavior.”

Sarah Catherine Hook vs. Debbie Glatzel

Sarah Catherine Hook has had small roles on TV series like The Valley and Monsterland before joining The Conjuring series as Debbie Glatzel.

Debbie Glatzel was Arne Johnson’s girlfriend at the time he killed Alan Bono. She married Johnson while he was in prison.

Julian Hilliard vs. David Glatzel

Julian Hilliard is best known for his roles as Young Luke in The Haunting of Hill House as well as Billy Maximoff in WandaVision.

David Glatzel was Debbie’s younger brother, the one who had the exorcism performed on him. According to David (and Debbie’s) brother Carl Glatzel, David “had suffered from mental illness as a child but has now recovered.”
