Bob Odenkirk had a ‘small heart attack,’ says he’s OK after collapsing

“Better Call Saul” star Bob Odenkirk assured he’s “going to be OK” after being hospitalized following a scary collapse on the show’s New Mexico set Tuesday.

The 58-year-old actor confirmed on Twitter Friday that he suffered a “small heart attack.” Despite his hospitalization, Odenkirk said he didn’t have to undergo any procedures.

“I’m going to be ok thanks to Rosa Estrada and the doctors who knew how to fix the blockage without surgery,” he tweeted.

Odenkirk added that he’s going to “take a beat to recover,” but promised he’ll “be back soon” to continue shooting the sixth and final season of “Better Call Saul,” which is set to air next year.

David Cross also provided an update to fans Friday about Odenkirk, who Cross said is “doing really well.”

“Just got off the phone with Bob and he’s doing great! Joking and japing and joshing. Both he and his family are overwhelmed with the outpouring of love and concern everyone has shown,” Cross tweeted Friday morning.

On Tuesday night, “Better Call Saul” crew members called an ambulance that took the 58-year-old actor to a hospital, a person close to Odenkirk who was not authorized to speak publicly on the matter told The Associated Press.

His health scare prompted a flood of support from his family, fans and his “Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul” co-stars, including Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul.

“Please take a moment in your day today to think about him and send positive thoughts and prayers his way, thank you,” Cranston wrote on Instagram Wednesday, while Paul added, “I love you my friend.”

On Friday, Odenkirk said the love he received was “overwhelming.”

“Thank you. To my family and friends who have surrounded me this week,” he tweeted. “And for the outpouring of love from everyone who expressed concern and care for me.  It’s overwhelming. But I feel the love and it means so much.”

Odenkirk also praised AMC, the network on which “Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul” air, and SONY, the show’s production company, for the “next level” support and help.

In a statement Wednesday, AMC said it’s “grateful to know he is in stable condition and receiving excellent care.”

“Bob is someone we have known and been lucky enough to work with for a long time. The immediate outpouring of affection and concern from fans around the world is a clear reflection of his immense talents and ability to both move and entertain people,” the network said. “We are holding him close in our thoughts and wishing for a fast and full recovery.”

Odenkirk has been nominated for four Emmys for playing the title character, a down-on-his-luck lawyer named Jimmy McGill who becomes increasingly corrupt and adopts the pseudonym Saul Goodman.
