If you loved binging “Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel” or “Night Stalker: The Hunt for a Serial Killer,” then “Saturday Night Live” has a very relatable anthem.

During this week’s episode, Kate McKinnon, Melissa Villaseñor, Ego Nwodim and Chloe Fineman teamed up for a musical ode to binging true-crime shows through the pandemic.

The music video opened with Fineman bidding farewell to host Nick Jonas, who left her home alone. Finally by themselves, the women each unwind with their ideal form of self-care: watching a “murder show.”

And, as the comedians point out, what’s great about murder shows is they can be enjoyed while multitasking.

“A body builder chopped an old lady,” McKinnon sings. “I watch while I text my sister about her baby.”

Fineman offered a similar experience.

“Last night I saw a new one where they found a cheerleader’s head in an old coal mine,” she croons. “I watch it while I pay my taxes online.”

And, as the women explain, the intrigue of the murder show often doesn’t go away after the final episode.

“And as soon as I’m done, I listen to a podcast about the same guy as the show I just watched because now I’m fully down the rabbit hole,” they sing in unison.

When Jonas returned home, he shared his own TV obsession.

“You do realize there’s a type of show that’s better than murder shows,” he says. “Have you heard of cult shows?”

This week’s “SNL” was hosted by Jonas, who also doubled as musical guest. The artist was last on the show in 2019 where he reunited with his former band The Jonas Brothers for the trio’s first return to the program since 2009.
