In a touching moment, Paris Jackson paid respects to her late father, Michael Jackson, cleaning graffiti from a star bearing the same name as him. Nathan Rousseau Smith shows us.

Paris Jackson is losing the filter.

The 22-year-old daughter of Michael Jackson, and her boyfriend/bandmate star in “Unfiltered: Paris Jackson and Gabriel Glenn,” out Tuesday on Facebook Watch. The premiere comes a week after the duo, dubbed The Soundflowers, released their first EP, featuring five songs.

The series, which includes interviews with Paris’ family members and manager, opens with Paris grieving over her father’s death at a 2009 memorial service.

“I just wanted to say, ever since I was born, Daddy has been the best father you could ever imagine,” she says, sobbing. “And I just wanted to say I love him, so much.”

Now, she explains how music has helped her cope with strife.

“It’s been 11 years, and I’ve been through hell – whether it was him passing or all the (expletive) that’s happened to me in my life,” she says. “If I don’t talk about it, or if I don’t put it in my music, it’s gonna completely ruin my life, and it’s gonna own me. And I’ll be a slave to that kind of pain and torment. I don’t want that.”

Paris and Glenn had an instantaneous spark when they met about two years ago.

“Within a week I was living in his van,” she remembers.

“She kept saying to me, like, you know when you get sick of me, just tell me to go and I’ll go, no hard feelings,” says Glenn. “I just ended up telling her that I didn’t want to her leave. I didn’t want her to go anywhere. I wanted to spend every day with her and every night with her, and, yeah, so it just kind of happened.”

Paris says she didn’t feel comfortable calling herself a musician until she met her beau. “Unfiltered” captures that self-consciousness. “Pressure and shadows” hold her back when singing, she explains. “Fear of living in a shadow.”

Paris longed to follow in her father’s footsteps at an early age. She is seen celebrating her fourth birthday with a bubblegum-pink cake and her dad, who’s curious about her birthday wishes.

“I’d do what you do,” she says, smiling. “You dance and sing.”

Paris’ performances move her older brother, Prince, born Michael Joseph Jackson Jr.

“When I get to see my sister sing, I feel very proud, in a way,” he says, “because I’ve seen where she came from and everything she had to deal with when she was growing up and how that singing has kind of been an outlet for her.”

In addition to her professional doubts, Paris is also open about her sexuality and shares that she’s surprised to be with a male.

“Thought I’d end up marrying a chick. I’ve dated more women than men,” she says. “I say I’m gay ‘cause, yeah, I guess I am, but I don’t – I wouldn’t’ consider myself bisexual because I’ve dated more than just men and women. I’ve dated a man that had a vagina. So, it has nothing to do with what’s in your pants… It’s literally just, like, what are you like as a person.”

Initially, Paris says she felt “a little conflicted” about her attraction to women, as she’d only seen “men and women on TV together.” But she says Michael sensed her attraction to women.

“My dad caught on pretty quick,” she recalls. “I think he just felt the energy, and he would kind of tease me the same way that he would tease my brothers. ‘Oh, you’ve got yourself a girlfriend,’ if you were staring at a magazine of a woman too hard.” Paris counts herself “very lucky to have that, especially so young. I think I was like 8 or 9, ‘cause not many children have that experience.”

She says things changed when she moved in with her paternal grandmother, Katherine Jackson, a Jehovah’s Witness, after her father’s death. “Homosexuality, in general, is very taboo in the Black community,” she says. “So that, on top of the religious aspect, it was something that I did feel like I needed to withhold for a while. And then the first time I came out to a family member they, like, didn’t believe me.”

But she found  a champion in her older brother, Prince, who she says joined a Gay-Straight Alliance club. She considers herself “lucky” to have his support.
