[ad_1]

The architect of this house, Hugh W. Comstock, worked extensively in the area in the 1920s and 1930s, designing a number of storybook cottages in nearby Carmel-by-the-Sea. This home has been updated several times since it was built, although many original details — including the roof’s adobe-style tiles — remain intact.

The property is close to a number of Pebble Beach’s golf courses: The Links at Spanish Bay is a five-minute drive; Spyglass Hill and Pebble Beach Golf Links, widely considered one of the best public courses in the country, are about 10 minutes away. Driving into Monterey takes 15 minutes, and San Jose is about an hour and a half away.

Size: 3,510 square feet

Price per square foot: $1,325

Indoors: The entrance to the house is off the side of the driveway, and the front door opens into a foyer with hardwood floors.

To the immediate right is a spacious living-and-dining room with an original stone fireplace and a large window facing the backyard. Also off the foyer, behind a set of wrought-iron doors, is a family room with a stone floor, large skylights and access to the back patio.

An arched doorway leads into the kitchen, which has Spanish-tile floors, a Thermador range and a dining area with built-in shelves. A laundry room and a half bathroom are nearby.

There are two bedroom suites on the main level: One, off the kitchen, has built-in cabinetry and a black-and-white-tiled bathroom; the other functions as a primary suite, with a dressing area, a bathroom with a deep soaking tub and a walk-in shower, and access to the back patio.

The other three bedrooms are on the second floor, reached by stairs in the foyer. The largest, to the left of the stair landing, has an en suite bathroom, as does the bedroom next door. The third bedroom is at the end of the hall.

The guest apartment is reached from a hallway off the kitchen (with a lockable door) and has its own exterior entrance. It is set up as a studio apartment, with a kitchen and a full bathroom.

Outdoor space: The backyard includes a stone patio running alongside the house; a fire pit with space for chairs surrounding it; and a putting green.
