Camila Cabello vows to boost singer’s confidence

To strike a chord with John Legend on “The Voice,” you have to stand out from the pack.

Team Legend singers Omar Jose Cardona and Lana Love blew the coaches away during the final round of the Battle Rounds Tuesday night with their powerhouse performance of “Into the Unknown” from Disney’s animated musical fantasy “Frozen II.”

Coach Camila Cabello praised Cardona’s natural showmanship.

“You’re an entertainer,” Cabello told the 33-year-old singer. “You just remind me of Freddie Mercury and the ease with which Bruno (Mars) and Anderson (.Paak) perform. You were born to do this.”

Love’s ability to embody the song’s theatricality won over coach Blake Shelton.

“You’re incredible,” Shelton told the 30-year-old singer. “You stepped into character when you got onstage, and you became that moment.”

But Cardona’s vocal prowess made him the clear winner in Legend’s eyes, with the coach declaring the Florida vocalist the battle’s victor.

“There’s very few voices in the world with the range, the quality, the soul (and) the control that Omar has,” Legend said. “Omar could definitely win ‘The Voice.’ ”

Camila Cabello vows to ‘pull confidence’ out of ‘incredible’ singer

Team Camila singers Andrew Igbokidi and Zach Newbould tugged at the heartstrings with their emotional rendition of Whitney Houston’s dance-pop classic “I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me).”

Newbould’s unique tone caught the attention of coach Gwen Stefani.

“Your voice really shined,” Stefani told the 19-year-old singer. “It was like an alternative-sounding voice in a pop song. I like the contrast of that.”

While nerves got the best of Igbokidi, Cabello was pleased that the 22-year-old didn’t let this anxiety derail his performance.

“I was so happy when I saw you dancing and having fun,” Cabello said. “You have this incredible talent, but your hypercriticism of yourself is keeping you from accessing the freedom and the fun to go to that next level.”

Igbokidi’s undeniable talent inspired Cabello to take another chance on the Arkansas singer and choose him as the battle’s winner.

“Andrew’s voice and tone is so special. I don’t think that there’s any voice like his on the show,” Cabello said. “I don’t think he knows how good he is, and I just want to pull that confidence out of him.”

Blake Shelton gives ‘second chance’ to married country duo

Unfazed by a technical difficulty at the beginning of their performance, Bryce Leatherwood and The Dryes of Team Blake dazzled the coaches with their warm cover of “Red Dirt Road” by Brooks & Dunn.

Stefani gave the married duo props for their seamless onstage dynamic.

“It’s fun to watch you,” Stefani said. “You can see the chemistry. Your voices blend very well together.”

Cabello said while both contestants are “really talented,” Leatherwood stood out with his effortless charisma.

“Mr. Leatherwood really shined for me,” Cabello said. “I felt more at ease hearing and watching him. There was a calm confidence.”

Leatherwood’s “solid” stage presence swayed Shelton, who picked the 22-year-old as the battle’s winner. However, Shelton would also hit his “save” button just moments later, allowing him to keep The Dryes on his team.

“The Dryes are super talented. They just got behind the beat, and I know that they’re better musicians than that,” Shelton said. “If there’s anything I can do to give someone a second chance, then I’m going to do that.”
