David Eason Charged With Child Abuse For Assault on Stepson

Earlier this year, Jenelle Evans regained custody of her teenage son, Jace Evans.

The new living arrangement didn’t last long, however, as the 14-year-old ran away from home three times in as many weeks and was consequently returned to the care of his grandmother, Barbara Evans.

After one such incident, Jace alleged that he had been assaulted by Jenelle’s husband, David Eason.

Now, in a development that’s unlikely to surprise anyone who’s familiar with his long history of violence, Eason has been charged with misdemeanor child abuse.

TMZ was the first to report that Eason will face charges.

Few details are available at this time, and it’s not known if David has been arrested.

While the exact nature of the charges against Eason is unclear, insiders tell TMZ that video of the alleged incident has been turned over to both Child Protective Services and local police.

As for Jenelle, while she was present at the time of the incident, she has not yet been charged with any crimes.

However, TMZ’s source says it’s possible that that might change.

“Our law enforcement sources tell us while Jenelle hasn’t yet been charged, there’s a possibility she could eventually face charges as well,” an insider tells the outlet.

It’s a two-scandal day for the Easons, as UK tabloid The Sun is reporting that Eason recently tried to reconcile with ex-girlfriend Whitney Rich, who is the mother of his daughter, Maryssa.

“You were perfect. You just deserve so much better than everything you’ve been through. That’s why it makes me so sad. I think about it so much,” reads a text message Eason allegedly sent to Rich.

“And I dream about you all the time. I don’t know how I ended up here instead of where I wanted to be. I don’t know how WE ended up here instead of where I wanted US to be,” Eason continued, adding:

“I’m just so upset right now. And I wish I could turn back the clock.”

Evans and Eason have yet to publicly respond to today’s developments, but given their fondness for airing their dirty laundry on social media, it’s a safe bet that they won’t be quiet much longer.

Eason previously denied assaulting Jace in a Facebook tirade posted shortly after the boy’s allegations went public:

“It takes a sick person to spread lies on the Internet about a child!” he wrote.

“Then the rest of you are sick for chiming in like you know something because you read their lies. You people need help!”
