Politicized Rantings on Two Blogs by a ‘daviddepape’ Draw Scrutiny

Authorities investigating the attack on Paul Pelosi are looking into whether the suspect in the assault is the same person responsible for blog posts that espoused antisemitism and other hateful comments, according to Brooke Jenkins, the San Francisco district attorney.
Asked whether there were links between the suspect, David DePape, 42, and the blog posts, Ms. Jenkins said in an interview with The New York Times that it was an element of the ongoing investigation, but that nothing had been determined yet.
Two blogs written by a user who called himself “daviddepape” contain an array of angry and paranoid postings, including antisemitic sentiments and concerns about pedophilia, anti-white racism and “elite” control of the internet.
Law enforcement authorities have not said whether the blogs — or a Facebook page bearing the same name — were written by the Mr. DePape who is in custody in San Francisco and accused of assaulting Mr. Pelosi with a hammer.
Throughout her long political career, Ms. Pelosi has often been a target of anger from the right. But the vitriol against her reached new levels during the attack on the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, when several pro-Trump rioters roamed the halls of Congress trying to track her down and calling out her name.
The authorities said on Friday that when Mr. DePape confronted Mr. Pelosi, he shouted, “Where’s Nancy, where’s Nancy?”
