Puppy thrown out of vehicle during LA police chase ‘miraculously’ safe

[ad_1]

A puppy “miraculously” survived without a scratch after it was thrown out of a moving vehicle during a police chase in Los Angeles last week, police said.

On Friday, Los Angeles police officers engaged in pursuit of a suspect wanted in connection with an attempted murder and carjacking in March, the police department said in a news release.

The chase would last over two hours.  The suspect drove through multiple cities in Los Angeles County, at one point exiting out of a vehicle and entering the back of another, before the ordeal ended in the city of Carson.

During the chase, the puppy was placed inside a designer bag and thrown out of the window.

Puppy uninjured, remains in care

Police said the puppy was “miraculously” uninjured after it was thrown out of the vehicle in Los Angeles, and responding officers were able to rescue the dog.

The puppy, identified by Fox Los Angeles as an 8-month-old mix, was taken to South L.A. Animal Services, “where it is presently being held pending an investigation into the abandonment concern that was noted during the pursuit,” authorities said.

Matthew Spease, an animal care technician supervisor with LA Animal Services, told Fox Los Angeles “all is well” with the dog.

“This little puppy’s doing just fine,” Spease said.

Suspects in chase charged

Three people were arrested in connection with the pursuit:

  • Gustavo Alvarez, 27
  • Lynette Moreno, 27
  • Michelle Zamudio, 25

Alvarez is charged with attempted murder and attempted carjacking and is being held without bail, jail records show. Moreno, who police say set up the second getaway vehicle, was arrested for accessory and evading. Zamudio, who police say was the getaway driver, was charged with evading. Moreno and Zamudio each have their bail set at $75,000.
